VETS DAY ARLINGTON 1

Ok, So now I know that driving 700 miles after shooting a wedding is NOT a good idea 🙂 even if you do have 2 extra days to do it. NOT recommended. But my excitement got the best of me and I felt too close to my grandparents grave site not to take that drive. I was hesitant to post these pictures on my blog. Who wants to see a ton of pictures of head stones? After working on them I was amazed in all the beauty there is at the Arlington National Cemetery and my grandparents are forever a part of it. It just happened to be that we were there on Veterans Day. So getting inside took FOREVER because the president was there giving his Veterans Day speech. There were points in my exhausted state of mind that I was not even going to get inside. All that driving for nothing?? 😦 But all of a sudden I was inside, I didn’t even think to buy flowers! This picture of my son was all I had to leave with them. Here is how I was feeling while I had 3 1/2 hours to visit where 2 very important people in my life lay to rest. I love you Nanu and Nana. xoxo

I am so IMPRESSED with what you did!! I think it was a beautiful and splendid thing to do. Arlington is an amazing place. I have done a lot of my family genealogy and occasionally Rick has said that I’ve taken him to more cemeteries than he ever knew existed. LOL. The stones are spectacular. I was in a cemetery in Iowa photographing the stones of my ggg-grandparents. I photographed another stone in the cemetery because I thought it was attractive and I went on. After two more years of research I came to realize that the other stone was that of my gg-grandparents. I was stunned. I’ve also worked to place headstones for great grandparents when I find them missing.

Did you have an opportunity to read about wha it takes to be one of the soldiers who guards the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier? Those fellows are AMAZING.

Christmas blessings to you and yours Angelina. Hope to see you again soon! Ever fondly, Toni Guantone
